XX – Week 5 Recap

Posted on October 10, 2023October 10, 2023 by rkeepers1

TRADE ALERT:
It is rare we see a trade of this magnitude especially from a team that has yet to lose a game. Bossman obtains J Hurts, T Atwell, J Addison and A Ekeler in return ships to PackerFANatic7 J. Warren, K Allen, A St. Brown and D Watson. This will be an interesting one to track throughout the remainder of the season.

Pack Attack (130.17) vs DaUnderdog (101.28)

Pack Attack gets win # 4 on the season thanks to big games from J Allen (29.11) and D Achane (25.77). That is the good news. The bad news is that they got hit hard with the injury bug. J Jefferson is heading to IR, Achane may also be and J. Conner couldn’t finish the game. It is a good thing that Pack Attack got off to a good start because wins may be a little tougher to come by in the coming weeks. DaUnderdog falls to 2-3 on the season. They had an outside shot at this one with Jimmy G and R Doubs remaining on Monday night but they combined for only 10 points and that wasn’t nearly enough here. It doesn’t get any easier for DaUnderdog as they go up against the undefeated Rapids Plungers squad next week.

BIGBOY! (93.85) vs 16hrs Ahead of You!! (92.74)

Every year there is a team that finds ways to get improbable wins (Lucky) and then you have a team that always seems to be playing the top scoring team that week (unlucky). Right now BIGBOY! (3-2) falls into that first category as they find a way to get win #3 despite only scoring 93 points. This one did for sure have some drama as J. Meyers for 16hrs (2-3) almost was able to pull them all the way back. Meyers finished with a solid 16.75 points but he needed just one more catch and we would be here talking about the epic come from behind win! Instead BIGBOY! escapes again. This is the 2nd time this season where they have won by less then a point and failed to score 100. If those two games are reversed this is a 1-4 team but they aren’t and instead they are currently sitting at the #6 spot in the league and they just got C Kupp back! Better days ahead for this team from a scoring perspective and if they can keep winning these close games this will be a team that is there come playoff time!

Big Papa (173.85) vs Starrfavrerodg (98.50)

Wow, Big Papa (2-3)! Where did that come from!? 178 points!? Where did this team come from? After starting out the season an ugly 0-3 and failing to score more then 85 points in each of those three games they have had back to back offensive explosions. Scoring 138 last week and now 173 this week. The reigning champ is not going to go out quietly and if DJ Moore continues to put up T Hill type #’s this team may actually be on their way to another playoff berth! Crazy considering the start they had and how terrible things looked. Just when you thought that maybe Starrfavrerodg (2-3) had figured out some things after last week’s nice win they come crashing back to earth and once again fail to score over 100! They are going to need to get A Jones back and hopefully that can lead to some more victories in the future!

Sportsfreak (178.50) vs Bossman (140.95)

There it is! I had been mentioning and wondering when a team would rise to the challenge and beat Bossman and we saw it this week as Sportsfreak (3-2) went toe to toe with Bossman and in the end just flat out outscored them! Sportsfreak had three players score over 30 points, T Hill (33.05), T Etienne (34.47) and Z Moss (36.50). The most surprising of those being Z Moss as I assumed a much lesser of a role for him with J. Taylor back in the mix. This could be one of those signature wins that when we look back on the season is what propelled Sportsfreak into the playoffs and beyond. Bossman (4-1) took their first loss of the season but it wasn’t like they played bad. Anytime you score 140 points and lose I guess all you can do is tip your cap to the other team and move on to next week. I think potentially the bigger story for Bossman is the HUGE trade they pulled off just prior to Sunday’s games. Is that the reason they lost? Quick answer is no and it actually is the reason this game was close. Neither K. Allen (Bye) or A St. Brown (Injury) played. An interesting trade for a team that had yet to lose a game.

U Don’t Know (153.97) vs PackerFANatic7 (78.64)

A great response from U Don’t Know this week as they get that 59 point embarrassment out of the way and redeem themselves somewhat with a really strong 153 point effort this week thanks to monster games from Chase (52.60) and B Hall (31.65). They also got J Taylor back so things are looking up for U Don’t Know. The win moves them to 2-3 on the season and they will now get a chance to get back to .500 next week against BIGBOY! PackerFANatic7 falls to an ugly 1-4 on the season. They are the only team in the league to have scored over 100 points only one time and it was 108. They are currently the lowest scoring team in the league and are desperately needing some type of spark. There manager is doing everything they can to turn this thing around starting with a monster trade that didn’t help them this week but could benefit them down the road. For now though, this team is struggling and they have a big hole to dig themselves out of.

Rapids Plungers (116.72) vs HHH (93.92)

And then there was only 1! Rapids Plungers gets win # 5 on the season to remain undefeated and become the last man standing. With Bossman losing to Sportsfreak, Rapids Plungers is the only remaining undefeated team. This wasn’t there best week, in fact from a points perspective it was their worst week but it was enough to get the W and that is all that matters. There is not a lot of weaknesses on this team right now and it may be awhile before we see them get their first loss! This is your top team in the league! HHH on the other hand is really struggling as they fall to 0-5 on the season and it is hard to envision them digging out of this hole. However, it starts one week at a time and they go up against the 1 win teamAlaska squad next week. Maybe that becomes their first win!?

pack slayer (111.51) vs teamAlaska (69.86)

pack slayer rebounded nicely this week coming off a loss from a week ago. This wasn’t there best game of the season but anytime you put up 111 points you put yourself in a good position to get the W! D. Hopkins (20) and G Davis (22) led the way for them this week. There is some good news and bad news however. The good news is that they continue to win despite Barkely unable to play. The bad news is that they lose A Richardson for quite some time. This doesn’t affect their team directly as he wasn’t starting but a couple more big games and he could have been a nice trade piece. teamAlaska looked relatively good through three weeks despite only winning once in those two weeks but since then they have failed to score 100 points and they are now sitting at 1-4 and needing to find some wins. A good start might be to take J Love out of that starting QB spot!

That’s it for this week everyone. Have a great week!
