XV – Final Four Recap

The Super Bowl is set! Here we go…

pack slayer (153.27) vs U Don’t Know (107.04)

pack slayer goes to show it doesn’t matter what seed you get in as and that it is all about getting hot at the right time and their team has come to play these playoffs. They have been averaging 156 ppg in their two upset wins. This time they took down the team that has held the # 1 spot virtually all year in U Don’t Know. U Don’t Know had a great regular season! In fact, record wise it was one of the best as it is hard to go 11-2 in this league. However, they don’t hand out trophies for finishing first in the regular season and that is what they found out the hard way. pack slayer got solid contribution from a bunch of different players as they had 7 players score over 13 points. That is for sure a recipe for success in any league and especially in a 14 team league. pack slayer now moves on to their first ever Super Bowl where they will be facing the defending champs! U Don’t Know is sent home and ends this season on a down note!

BIGBOY! (128.34) vs PackMan12 (114.61)

The defending champ isn’t going down quietly… well in fact they don’t seem to be going down at all. You knew the minute they got into the playoffs they would be a tough out and now look. They just took down the #2 seed in the league and are back into the Super Bowl for the second year in a row! This wasn’t easy however and things didn’t look really good for them heading into the afternoon games but Roethlisberger and JuJu Smith-Schuster only combined for 19 points. Overall this was a tough week for PackMan12 as they had one player not score a point (Austin Hooper) and Mr Reliable all year (Saquon Barkley) had his lowest point total of the season with only 7 points. In these type of games you need your stars to perform and they didn’t for PackMan12. BIGBOY! yet again had to figure out a way to win without their top WR (OBJ) and one of their top RB’s in James Conner. So what did they do? They picked up Derrick Henry who put up a cool 34pts. Those my friends are the moves that win you games and for BIGBOY! potentially win you championships! PackMan12 will be left playing for 3rd place and worst yet have to hear the smack talk from BIGBOY! coach which I am sure will be laid on heavy after this week! BIGBOY! is off to the Super Bowl to defend their title and go for back to back Super Bowl victories!

Have a great week everyone!

XV – Wild Card Weekend Recap

The first round of the playoffs is complete and really if you like exciting close games then this was a dud of a week as pack slayer and BIGBOY! made sure that they were moving on into the Final Four! I expect next weeks game to be a bit more dramatic with a shot at a spot in the title game on the line! But first to the Wild Card Weekend Recap..

pack slayer (159.36) vs Rapids Plungers (112.05)

pack slayer pulls off the upset and takes down the #3 seed Rapids Plungers! pack slayer was led by 30 points from Julio Jones and Matt Ryan added 21 to help them to a relatively easy win. pack slayer has proven all season that they can score points and now that they have made the playoffs they showed us part of the reason why they could make a strong playoff run! They are as dangerous of a team as any but they get a date with the #1 overall seed next week. For Rapids Plungers, they saw yet another successful regular season end in disappointment. They now have the dreaded off season to think about what went wrong and how are they ever going to get a playoff win! Some things are hard to understand and well this is for sure one of them! Congratulations to pack slayer on moving on and to Rapids Plungers on making it this far which is more then 8 other teams could say!

BIGBOY! (116.06) vs HHH (56.13)

WOW! BIGBOY! walks away with the 60 point win despite scoring their least amount of points since week 4. The defending champs were without two key members though as James Conner and Odell Beckham Jr both sat out this week with injuries. McCaffrey and Mahomes shouldered the load by scoring 46 points combined and that was enough to move on to the Final Four! HHH… well I am not sure what to say.. This was about as terrible of a showing that I can remember in a playoff game. The only starter to score over 10 points was Kamara and he only had 12 total. This one is going to sting for awhile as this was a winnable game against a BIGBOY! team that as mentioned were dealing with injuries to key members. They picked a bad time to have one of their worst weeks of the year and like Rapids Plungers they now face the LONG offseason. The win for BIGBOY! means they are now the only remaining team that has won a championship. Can they repeat? I don’t know but getting a win on a off week like this can sometimes be a huge momentum builder.

Have a great week everyone!

XV – Week 13 Recap – Final Week

That’s a wrap on the regular season! What a great regular season it was with lots of back and forth, trades, injuries, close wins, heartbreaking losses but we have 6 teams still standing and now will be battling it out for a championship over the next three weeks!

For those of you not in the top 6, I will be blocking your teams from Wednesday waivers. We will keep that exclusively for those teams battling in the playoffs.  I will open it back up for adding / dropping early Wed morning as I know most of you are in the consolation round and want to be able to say you won something! Yes, I am one of those!

Pack Attack (133.09) vs Sportsfreak (83.13)

Pack Attack got the win to move to 7-6 on the season but it wasn’t quite enough as they finish the season in the #7 spot. For Sportsfreak, they can finally put an end to this abysmal season and start looking forward to next year.

PackMan12 (102.58) vs 16hrs Ahead of You!! (91.33)

PackMan12 finishes off the season with a very unimpressive win but a win nonetheless and this moved them to 11-2 on the season. This marks the best regular season they have ever had. They will now get to sit at home and wait and see who they get to play in the semifinals of the playoffs. 16hrs Ahead of you!! finishes the season 4-9 but you have to admire their fight as they didn’t give up all season and specifically this week as they were without Melvin Gordon and Kareem Hunt. Injuries derailed this team but they will be looking to come back stronger next year.

DaUnderdog (123.97) vs Big Papa (90.47)

DaUnderdog (6-7) finishes the season on a high note winning 3 of their last 4 games to at least be mathematically in the playoff hunt going into the last week of the season. Big Papa (6-7) must have decided that their fate was already set and decided not to show up in this one. That has been their season, good one week bad the next two or three… this team showed spurts especially after the first 4 weeks but it wasn’t enough for them to sneak into the playoffs. These two teams are now gunning for the consolation round championship…. hey.. the winner usually gets at least mentioned in the Super Bowl article later this season!

BIGBOY! (187.72) vs PackerFANatic7 (105.34)

The defending champ, BIGBOY! (8-5) is back in the tournament and I know they are only the #4 seed but they will be heading into the playoffs with a ton of confidence after dominating PackerFANatic7 by 80 points. In addition, they wrapped up the scoring lead by just over 100 points and I know PackMan12 and U Don’t Know have the records and have the bye week but I sure wouldn’t want to be playing the defending champs in the playoffs right now. PackerFANatic7 fell to a disappointing 5-8 on the season. I said it 4 weeks ago and I will say it again, this team losing to teamAlaska in week 9 sealed the deal and they never were able to recover as they went 1-3 the rest of the way. This is only their second year in the league so they will learn that making the playoffs isn’t easy and it’s those 50/50 games that usually make a big difference in getting into the playoffs or watching from home.

U Don’t Know (104.12) vs Bossman (95.83)

U Don’t Know like PackMan12 gets the win to seal the deal and wrap up the #1 overall seed which they have held onto for much of the season. This was a less than impressive win but their season as a whole was extremely impressive and they now have the bye week and then need two more wins to get that first ever championship! Bossman for the most part really struggled this year. Yes, they were 5-8 however I am not sure if this was even a 5 win team. Bossman coach did a nice job of getting his guys to perform good enough but they didn’t have that difference maker that could win games almost single handedly. They like Pack Attack will be missing out of the playoffs for the second year in a row which means there is a good chance for someone new to win their first ever championship. I get the feeling that Bossman is getting tired of having teams that overachieve but instead would like to have a team that can come out and dominate the competition. I expect them to come back strong next season.

Rapids Plungers (116.38) vs HHH (102.04)

I said in my preview last week that I wanted to see Rapids Plungers (9-4) get that signature win and well they did just that. It wasn’t pretty but I think the overall theme this week was that scoring was down for most. This was a big win because not only did it keep Rapids Plungers winning streak alive (which is now at an impressive 7 games) it also means they finish as the #3 seed and don’t play BIGBOY! in the first round. HHH fell to 8-5 on the season and have now dropped two straight games. They have had an up and down season after starting off 5-0 but the key thing is to get into the playoffs and after that anything can happen. Two playoff teams entering the playoffs in somewhat different fashion. Can either of them make a deep playoff run? I am looking forward to finding out.

pack slayer (117.56) vs teamAlaska (111.63)

They made it! It has been a constant battle all year long for pack slayer. They won their first three games of the year then lost their next 5 and then went on to win 4 of their last 5 to snag the final playoff spot. This team has scored a decent amount of points which honestly is usually the case for the #6 seed. We usually have a 7 win team that takes the # 6 seed and they do it based on points. This game wasn’t easy and you have to admire the fight that teamAlaska put up. It came down to Monday night and teamAlaska’s kicker. teamAlaska had a tough season and they will be looking for a much better performance next season. pack slayer is moving on and they will face a red hot Rapids Plungers team next week in the first round of the playoffs!

Have a great week everyone!

XV – Week 11 Recap

What a week it was! The playoff race got a little clearer meaning those teams that fell to 4-7 after this week are all but eliminated. However, we still have 5 teams within one game of each other battling for the final two playoff spots!

Pack Attack (99.06) vs teamAlaska (91.32)

Pack Attack (6-5) hasn’t had too many ugly wins this year but this certainly qualifies as a ugly win and one that keeps their season alive for another week. In addition, it seems them get over .500 for the first time all year! With two games left they likely need to win out to get in. teamAlaska falls to 1-10 on the season.

U Don’t Know (130.48) vs 16hrs Ahead of You!!(100.54)

U Don’t Know moves to 10-1 on the season and just continues to do what they have done all year long and that is win! They now have 10 wins on the season and will be looking for a win next week to guarantee themselves a first round bye. 16hrs ahead of you!! (4-7) had a solid start to the season but saw it end as it has for many years… missing the playoffs!

Bossman (112.44) vs Big Papa (108.56)

This one came down to the wire as Kirk Cousins late garbage time scores made it a 4 point game! Big Papa needed a little more from his team this week to keep their playoff hopes alive but they just couldn’t find it! Bossman (6-5) figured out a way to get the win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Bossman now sits in the #7 spot and is going to need to win out and get some help from those teams currently ahead of them. Bossman’s schedule is not going to be easy as they finish against pack slayer and U Don’t Know! Big Papa was battling all year but losing three of their last 4 games is what has pushed them likely out of the playoffs!

Rapids Plungers (173.54) vs BIGBOY! (138.21)

Pretty sure I warned all of you about this a couple of weeks ago… you let a team that has been under performing all year win games they had no business winning and suddenly when the games start to really matter they show up… welcome to the contenders list Rapids Plungers. Rapids Plungers has 7 wins on the season and they have now won 5 straight games and I would also like to point out that they just dominated one of the best teams in the league! This was by far there best game of the season and they are now sitting good to make the playoffs and for one week at least look like a team that is poised to make a playoff run! BIGBOY! (6-5) well… I guess I am a little surprised. This team looked invincible until U Don’t Know figured out a way to beat them last week and then now Rapids Plungers kicks them to the curb as well! Here is the interesting part… this team is now tied with three other teams for the final 2 remaining playoff spots. Suddenly a team that had championship aspirations just two weeks ago now finds themselves fighting for their playoff lives. Last two weeks are going to be fun!

HHH (154.80) vs DaUnderdog (113.06)

This game was actually closer then the score would seem as DaUnderdog was hanging around with their kicker and D player going in last nights game but in the end Goff went off for 44 pts and there was no way DaUnderdog was keeping up. This was a big game for both teams but for different reasons and HHH was the one to be able to figure out a way to get the win. The win moves HHH to 8-3 on the season and keeps their hopes of a potential playoff bye still within reach. DaUnderdog put up a good fight but at 4-7 they are in that not officially eliminated state but 99.9% there.

PackMan12 (179.19) vs pack slayer (156.62)

Game of the week! Yep. There was some good games but this one was easily the most exciting! pack slayer (5-6) had played a really solid week, they got big performances from Mike Evans (29pts), Julio Jones (22pts) and Phillip Lindsay (22pts). They were cruising and after a 16 point effort by Khalil Mack on Sunday night pack slayer seemed to be in the drivers seat. Well they were in the drivers seat as they held a 26 point lead going into last nights game. pack slayer had their newly aquired WR (Josh Reynolds) going for them in last nights epic game and PackMan12 (9-2) had Tyreek Hill and Greg Zuerlein remaining. If you missed last nights game… I am sorry because that was incredible and if you had Tyreek Hill on your fantasy team like PackMan12 did it was even better. Tyreek Hill had over 200 yards receiving and finished with 52pts to lead PackMan12 to the 23 point win. What a crazy game and this was a huge loss for pack slayer as they no longer control their own destiny in the race for the final playoff spots. PackMan12 is looking to hold off HHH for that first round bye! Two more wins and they have it. For pack slayer their luck is going to need to change if they want to make the playoffs this season!

PackerFANatic7 (158.33) vs Sportsfreak (85.39)

This was a must win for PackerFANatic7 and they were able to get it in convincing fashion. Ezekial Elliott (30pts) and DJ Moore (30pts) led the way for them this week and kept their playoff hopes alive. They have a brutal two game stretch as they face Rapids Plungers and BIGBOY! to close out the season. If they figure out a way to win these last two games and somehow get into the playoffs then they certainly will have earned it. Sportsfreak is still fighting but at 2-9 they are bruised pretty good and it doesn’t look likely they will move their way out of that lucky #13 spot in the league. Next year can’t come soon enough for this team.

Have a great week everyone!

XV – Week 10 Recap

Wow! Trades are rare in this league as you all know and it is hard to come up with a trade that both parties feel good about. So to see what happened in the final couple of days before the trade deadline was really…. well fun to see! In all we saw 13 players change teams in two days (11/9 and 11/10). These are teams that are battling for their playoff lives so it will be interesting to see how they end up. Do they help or hurt? Or maybe they won’t matter at all as all the teams who completed trades were not at that time in the top 6 for a playoff berth. I have an opinion who won and who loss if I were to evaluate them and it just might come out in the recaps.

Pack Attack (128.30) vs Bossman (112.55)

Pack Attack was one of four teams that made trades just before the deadline. The trade didn’t lead them to a victory this week, in fact they actually lost 6 points this week due to the trade but the next three weeks and if guys can stay healthy will be the determining factor on how they fared. Pack Attack (5-5) was able to get back to .500 on the season while Bossman (5-5) falls back to .500 and out of the top 6 spots. Both of these teams are lower in the scoring department so it is likely that they will have to win out to get into the playoffs!

pack slayer (115.53) vs 16hrs Ahead of You!! (84.36)

This was a huge win for pack slayer as they moved their record to 5-5 and if the playoffs were to start right now they would be in as the #6 seed. That has got to feel good for this team as just two weeks ago they were amidst a 5 game losing streak and now after two straight wins they find themselves in the #6 spot! 16hrs (4-6) suffered another tough loss, there 3rd loss in a row and what started out as such a promising season is now looking more and more like it may end the same way it has for the past 8 seasons… missing the playoffs. There is still hope but it will require winning the final three games and getting some help!

PackMan12 (156.66) vs Big Papa (113.95)

PackMan12 (8-2) continues their impressive season with a convincing win over Big Papa (4-6). Roethlisberger (43pts) and Tyreek Hill (31pts) were the difference makers for PackMan12 in this one. With three games left they still are fighting for that overall #1 spot in the playoffs however probably more important then that is to get the first round bye. Big Papa has no choice now.. they have to win out to have a shot at the playoffs. They have went 2-2 over their last 4 games but that isn’t going to cut it. They will be going up against Bossman in a win or go home scenario.

U Don’t Know (148.58) vs BIGBOY! (144.02)

What a game! U Don’t Know has had some impressive wins this season but this one was the best. Without Adam Thielen in the lineup you right away knocked off 20 points from U Don’t Know’s score but they figured out a way to get the win and move to an impressive 9-1 on the season! In doing so, they were also the first team to officially clinch a playoff spot. If you had any doubts who the best team in the league was before this week… well now you know. BIGBOY! (6-4) on the other hand suffered their first loss since week 4. A win here would have put them in prime position for a chance at a first round bye in the playoffs but that now looks unlikely. I was also impressed with this team again this week. They battled all game and thanks to 19pts from OBJ in Monday nights game they almost pulled off the comeback win. I still think this is one of the best teams in the league and a 4 point loss to the best team in the league is nothing to be too down about.

DaUnderdog (135.60) vs PackerFANatic7 (112.05)

Remember all those trades and that thing I was talking about with winners and losers at the trade deadline. This is where it gets interesting. On the eve of the trade deadline DaUnderdog (4-6) pulled off two big moves. They involved moving some big name players in Davante Adams and Dalvin Cook but in return they gained a lot of depth. PackerFANatic7 (4-6) also traded a big name in Rob Gronkowski. Dalvin Cook for Aaron Jones. I think you could make an argument either way and make a case for on paper who came out ahead in that one. Here though is the part I find interesting. PackerFANatic7 played DaUnderdog this week. DaUnderdog was starting in his flex either Marquise Goodwin, Jamaal Williams or Cordarrelle Patterson. The trade allowed DaUnderdog to insert Aaron Jones into his lineup and PackerFANatic7 couldn’t do the same with Cook because he was on a bye. I think you all know the rest. Aaron Jones puts up 31 points… I guess maybe he was as shocked about the trade as anyone and wanted to show up his former team!? This was a game that both teams couldn’t afford to lose and it seemed like PackerFANatic7 gave this one away by trading for three players that were on their bye week! DaUnderdog on the other hand got 54.62 points from players that weren’t on their roster from a week ago and based on how the traded away players fared that was a net gain of 35.77 points this week. That’s impressive and well done!

HHH (170.96) vs teamAlaska (107.90)

HHH (7-3) struggled last week and it seemed as though they took out all of their frustration on teamAlaska (1-9)! HHH put up 170 points despite getting 0 points from Sammy Watkins and losing -2 points from the Seattle D. We all know that this is a team capable of putting up big #’s week in and week out however it is the consistency that I need to see and that they will need to find if they want to make a deep run in the playoffs. teamAlaska continues to put up a fight but they were no match this week against HHH. Three more games left to try and pull themselves out of the bottom of the standings.

Rapids Plungers (117.07) vs Sportsfreak (112.80)

Wow! In what might be the best comeback of the season Rapids Plungers comes away with yet another improbable win! Going into Monday night’s game Rapids Plungers was losing 112.80 to 88.79. Rapids Plungers had only Matt Breida left to play which meant they had a chance. However, if I were a betting man I certainly would have been putting my money on Sportsfreak. Breida has had only one game this season over 20 points and has been averaging in the 10 point range. Breida however decided this was a good night to have his best game of the season by scoring 2 TD’s and going over 100 yards rushing. Let’s talk about that 100 yards rushing because the exact # was 101 yards rushing. There is this bonus that happens at 100 yards and that bonus is worth 5 points. If Breida rushes for 99 yards instead of 101, Sportsfreak wins 112.80 to 112.07. Ouch… so yes Sportsfreak  you lost this game by 2 yards. This pretty much sums up each of these two teams seasons. Sportsfreak continues to find ways to lose while Rapids Plungers continues to find ways to win and guess what? This team is now 6-4, has won 4 games in a row and 5 of their last 6 and controls their own destiny for the playoffs. They have a tough three game stretch ahead but the momentum has been building with this team and they have a coach that just knows how to win! It will be interesting to see how the last three weeks turn out!

Have a great week everyone!

XV- Week 9 Recap

What a great week this was as 5 of the 7 games were decided by 11 points or less! The playoff races are heating up and we are in for a great final 4 weeks!

PackMan12 (111.49) vs Pack Attack (109.09)

PackMan12 sneaks past Pack Attack (4-5) and moves to 7-2 on the season. This is what good teams do, they find a way to win and right now PackMan12 is a good team and Pack Attack is not! You won’t win many games when 6 of your 11 starters score 6 points or less and that is what happened to Pack Attack. PackMan12 got a great game from Tevin Coleman (26.27 pts) and they now have their eyes set on that #1 overall seed!

Big Papa (109.18) vs 16hrs Ahead of You!! (100.88)

Big Papa wins thanks to two players and really one player but Michael Thomas (48.55pts) and George Kittle (20.40pts) accounted for 63% of their scoring this week and they won the game! That might be the highest % between two players and the team get the win. The win moves Big Papa to 4-5 on the season and drops 16hrs to their 2nd straight loss as well as moving to 4-5. The win here by Big Papa just ensured that the mess of teams that are battling for that # 5 and #6 playoff spot stayed messy!

BIGBOY! (127.88) vs Sportsfreak (85.15)

There’s your dagger! The dagger that BIGBOY! (6-3) just put through Sportsfreak (2-7) very slim playoff hopes and any chance of them salvaging their season. Yes, they are not officially eliminated but… well… they are eliminated. BIGBOY! continues to roll past opponents and they have now won 5 straight games. A potential Super Bowl preview is next week as they go up against the best team in the league in U Don’t Know.

Bossman (108.38) vs HHH (106.02)

Bossman does exactly what they do best… find improbable ways to win! This game came down to the Sunday night game where Tom Brady (11.81pts) and James White (23.67pts) were able to overcome the deficit and lead Bossman to the huge win! The win puts Bossman at 5-4 a game ahead of the rest of the 4-5 teams which is critical as this team will have to be a full game ahead of the next person in the standings as they won’t likely win a tie breaker! For HHH, they let a big one slip away with a loss here they moved to 6-3 on the season and now the hopes of the #1 overall seed seem unlikely given how the teams ahead of them have been playing. The good news is that HHH has a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way so I wouldn’t count them out just yet but this loss here was a major blow to those chances. If Bossman is able to make the playoffs this season they will have earned it. The next three games are against teams one game behind them in the standings and then they finish off the season against U Don’t Know. They have put themselves in a good position and if there is any coach and team that can find a way to somehow get into the playoffs against seemingly rough odds, this is the team!

Rapids Plungers (100.44) vs DaUnderdog (89.68)

Yes folks… it’s Cordarrelle Patterson’s world and we are all just living in it! Or maybe I might suggest that the coach of Rapids Plungers buy a ticket to Vegas as their streak of seemingly lucky outcomes is at a all time high! OR some might say that this was a coaching genius and luck was not involved at all! Either way you look at it the move to pick up Cordarrelle Patterson on Sunday afternoon a mere couple of hours before he is scheduled to play turned out to be a potentially season saving move. Patterson delivered with 11.42 points to seal the victory for Rapids Plungers and move them to 5-4 on the season and to their 3rd straight win! This team like Bossman has been overachieving so far this year but eventually they will put it all together and you will look back at those wins they were able to steal when they maybe “shouldn’t have won” as a key to the overall success of their team. Overachieving in fantasy football = a good coach.. so there you go Bossman and Rapids Plungers. Your teams have been… overachieving… so that makes you good coaches… well done! DaUnderdog fell to 3-6 on the season losing their third straight game and 4 out of their last 5. They are now in the “I can’t lose anymore games” mode for the remainder of the year! Good luck!

pack slayer (129.06) vs U Don’t Know (122.38)

You assumed it was going to happen at some point this season but pack slayer was finally able to breakthrough and hand U Don’t Know their first loss of the season! Matt Ryan led the way for pack slayer as they moved to 4-5 on the season and snapped their 5 game losing streak! This was a HUGE win for them, potentially like other 4-5 teams… a season saving win. For U Don’t Know despite their first loss of the season they still control their own destiny and have a one game lead on PackMan12 for that #1 overall spot. They have a big show down next week with BIGBOY! I am already looking forward to that one!

teamAlaska (108.95) vs PackerFANatic7 (93.71)

How ironic is that… the same week that we saw U Don’t Know lose their first game we also now see teamAlaska get their first win on the season! I wrote last week that a loss here for PackerFANatic7 would be hard for them to overcome and now we will be able to see if it is something they can overcome! They fall to 4-5 on the season which leaves them very much in the playoff race but they are left with zero momentum and confidence heading into the last 4 weeks of the season. teamAlaska gets that monkey off their back and moves to 1-8 on the season. They have 4 games left and every one of those games are against teams fighting for playoff spots. I am sure they want nothing more then to play the role of spoiler the rest of the way and they will get a chance to do it!

Have a great week everyone!

XV – Week 8 Recap

Another week is in the books and more of the same. U Don’t Know keeps winning, teamAlaska keeps losing and the rest of the pack gets more muddled.

Pack Attack (119.59) vs 16hrs Ahead of You!! (111.78)

It wasn’t pretty but Pack Attack was able to come away with the 8 point win thanks to a big game from Marlon Mack (28 pts). 16hrs was missing two key players to byes in this one most notably Melvin Gordon and you have to think if he was playing in this one the outcome likely would have been different. Pack Attack dodged a bullet and moves back to .500 on the season while 16hrs fall to .500.

U Don’t Know (135.49) vs Big Papa (122.77)

U Don’t Know just keeps on winning and now has moved to 8 straight wins and an 8-0 start. For awhile it looked like Big Papa was going to come away with the upset here but in the end U Don’t Know was up for the challenge and sent Big Papa home with another loss, their 5th on the season. Starting a season 8-0.. that’s no small feat so I started wondering. I wonder how many times this has happened in the past and how did those teams fare the remainder of the season? In the 15 seasons we have played this has happened only three other times. Showboat in 2007 started out the season at 10-0 and went on to win their first ever championship. The other two times were by Rapids Plungers. Rapids Plungers started the 2010 season at 9-0 but lost their first playoff game. In 2016, Rapids Plungers started 8-0 and they also lost their first playoff game that year as well. U Don’t Know has all but clinched a playoff spot but winning a championship is not easy and no one remembers the teams that don’t!

BIGBOY! (186.19) vs pack slayer (136.46)

Another week and another dominating performance from BIGBOY! as they move their record to 5-2 and have now won 4 straight games. Winning 4 straight games is impressive however to me the most impressive is how they have been winning games. Over that span of 4 weeks they have been averaging 176 ppg and really haven’t been challenged. They have a week 9 meeting with Sportsfreak which the brotherly battle is always fun but it is the next week that I am looking forward to as they go up against the currently undefeated U Don’t Know team. pack slayer (3-5) put up a decent fight early on considering that they were without their stars this week but in the end they didn’t really stand a chance and they have now lost 5 straight games! It is not panic mode quite yet for this team but another loss next week and panic mode would officially be activated.

PackerFANatic7 (150.98) vs Bossman (108.43)

PackerFANatic7 (4-4) comes away with the big win here to stop their 3 game losing streak and get back to .500. This was kind of your typical game for Bossman.. Score just over 100 points and play exceptional defense however this week their defense couldn’t hold down PackerFANatic7 and they got blown out. PackerFANatic7 has shown in past weeks that they can score on occasion but to get to where they want to go they are going to need some consistency. Maybe this will be the start of a run for them? This was the concern all along that I have had for this team and that is a tie with other teams. They currently have a 4-4 record however there are 5 other teams with a 4-4 record. Bossman is almost 200 points behind the top 4-4 team. What I am saying is that Bossman… you need to not only win but you need to start putting up some big #’s!

Sportsfreak (127.44) vs DaUnderdog (104.38)

Sportsfreak wins again! That is now two in a row for Sportsfreak as they they keep their season alive for one more week. I will mention it again to give all of you hope. There is a always a 7 win team that makes the playoffs! All Sportsfreak has to do is win out and they have a chance! This was a tough loss for DaUnderdog as they now fall to 3-5 on the season. For DaUnderdog these are the type of games you have to win to make the playoffs. No one really showed up for them in this one and mainly they have got to be disappointed with the performance of Drew Brees as he only put up 6 points in the loss. On the other side of the ball Sportsfreak and their QB, Deshaun Watson put up 35 points. That’s your ballgame folks!

HHH (166.06) vs PackMan12 (103.23)

This one had to feel really good for HHH (6-2) as not only do they stop their 2 game losing streak but they also did it against one of the top teams in the league to move themselves even with PackMan12 who falls to 6-2 on the season.  This was the HHH team we were used to seeing in weeks 1-5 but then weeks 6 & 7 happened and you wondered where did this team go and will they ever get back to that level of play. This dominating performance has them moving to next week with a lot of momentum and the top spot in the league still a possibility. For PackMan12, this was a tough loss and not just because of the loss but because they really didn’t put up a fight. I am starting to see a bit of a trend emerging with this team… they have a really good week, an OK week and then a BAD week. If that holds true then Pack Attack better watch out for next week as it is time for their really good week!

Rapids Plungers (90.35) vs teamAlaska (63.19)

So I was at the Timberwolves game last night and the PA announcer was ecstatic and enthusiastic every time a Wolves player scored. For example, a made basket by the Timberwolves Jimmy Butler was announced as Jimmmmy Butler… and then when any of the Lakers players scored it was announced in an under the breath whisper as “James”. Why do I tell you this… because that is how I feel about this ugly game so I guess… I am going to say this in an under my breath whisper…. “Rapids Plungers with the win”.

Have a great week everyone!

XV – Week 7 Recap

Week 7 is completed and we still have one remaining undefeated team and we now only have won team without a win!

U Don’t Know (142.63) vs Pack Attack (136.26)

The magic continues for U Don’t Know (7-0) as they come away with a last minute victory over Pack Attack (3-4) thanks to a 16 point effort from their Kicker! U Don’t Know has now moved their record to 7-0 on the season and they did it in a week they were without Rodgers who was on a bye. The trio of Thielen, Gurley and Kerryon Johnson was just enough to get past Pack Attack and stop their 3 game winning streak! So who will beat U Don’t Know this season? It’s Big Papa’s turn next!

16hrs Ahead of You!! (100.88) vs HHH (90.94)

16hrs Ahead of You!! (4-3) comes away with the big win despite barely scoring over 100 points. 16hrs has now won three of their last 4 games to get them back to a game over .500. For HHH (5-2), I thought last week might have been a fluke but now after having two weeks in a row of failing to score 100 points I am beginning to wonder. HHH is still in a good spot for the playoffs and with the win this moved 16hrs into playoff positioning!

Big Papa (139.98) vs pack slayer (128.87)

This was a big win for Big Papa as they move their record to 3-4 on the season and more importantly stop that 4 game losing streak. To top it off they also sent pack slayer (3-4) to their 4th straight loss and moved into a tie with them in the standings! This was a down week for most teams in regards to scoring so this overall was a solid effort from pack slayer but still not enough to break that losing streak. Both of these teams have tough remaining schedules so getting the win here I know felt good for Big Papa. Big Papa now moves on to play U Don’t Know while pack slayer gets BIGBOY!

BIGBOY! (158.95) vs DaUnderdog (73.04)

I think it is safe to say that the defending champs in BIGBOY! (4-3) are not going to go down without a fight this year as they have now won three straight games to put themselves back into playoff contention. Not only have they put themselves back into playoff contention they over the past three weeks have been the most dominant team outside of U Don’t Know. A lot of this has to do with the trading for Patrick Mahomes. He once again was outstanding by putting up 37 points. Mahomes has now scored 216 points on the season. The next closest QB is Matt Ryan and he is at 176 and what about guys like Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers who were widely considered the best QB’s to take early on in drafts. Brady = 138pts and Rodgers = 133pts. So combined Rodgers and Brady have 271 points to Mahomes and his 216. That is impressive and having a guy like that on your team will win you a lot of games.   DaUnderdog (3-4) didn’t really have a chance in this one as they were without some key members of their team. They will be looking to get back to .500 next week.

Rapids Plungers (108.42) vs Bossman (86.30)

This was a big one for Rapids Plungers as they kept themselves in the middle of the traffic jam that is positions 4-12. I got some heat the past week or so from the Bossman coach stating that I never pick their team to win! Well… now you can see why! I pick them to win and they score 86 points… Now maybe Coach Bossman you can go back to focusing on your team and less about the fact that I fail to pick your team to win on a regular basis! After 7 weeks I definitely get the feeling that there is going to at a minimum be one or more teams tied for that final playoff spot which then the tie breaker comes down to points. As the weeks go on this is becoming more of an issue for Bossman so these wins are extremely important. To lose a game when the other team only scored 108 points could come back to haunt them. Rapids Plungers was able to get the win despite Antonio Brown and Doug Baldwin on the bye week. They will look to keep that momentum into next week!

PackMan12 (129.49) vs PackerFANatic7 (100.83)

PackMan12 (6-1) just keeps on winning and keeps on putting the pressure on U Don’t Know. They have now won three straight games since their loss to DaUnderdog in week 4. PackMan12 has proved that they deserve to be at the top of the leaderboard. They have a tough matchup this next week against HHH but then you look ahead to week 12 and U Don’t Know comes to town. If both teams keep winning that could make for quite the matchup! On the other side.. I am not really sure what is happening to PackerFANatic7 (3-4). They have fallen below .500 for the first time since week 1 and they have lost three straight games. Bye weeks and injuries to Gronkowski and Kupp are playing a factor but they also left 36 points between two players on the bench this week. If those two players were in the lineup we would be talking about a big win for PackerFANatic7! Those are the things that keep you up at night… Trust me I know… see Marlon Mack!

Sportsfreak (103.33) vs teamAlaska (51.39)

Cue the slow clap sound! Sportsfreak (1-6) comes away with a 52 point win over teamAlaska, their first of the season! If you would just have read that sentence you might think that Sportsfreak was dominant but unfortunately they only scored 103 points to get that 52 point win. Maybe now that they got that first win out of the way and the so called monkey off their back they will be able to play looser and at least win some games to make the season a little more interesting. And here’s the deal… there is always a 7 win team that makes the playoffs and this year I certainly expect that to be the case so yes.. Sportsfreak I am telling you there’s a chance! teamAlaska (0-7)… well it is hard to win a game when you would have been better off starting Brett Favre at QB this week. Yes, that’s because Blake Bortles put up negative points. This is a loss season for teamAlaska with LeVeon Bell still not playing! He most definitely would have lead to a couple of wins for this team. Now they can only hope he returns at some point in the season and they can then play the role of spoiler!

Have a great week everyone!

XV – Week 5 Recap

Week 5 is in the books and those two teams at the top, HHH and U Don’t Know continue to impress and stay undefeated while the rest of the league seemed to tighten up! Positions 4 through 12 are separated by just one game.

Pack Attack (147.08) vs Big Papa (86.64)

Pack Attack (2-3) after starting the season 0-3 has now won the last two games to try and get themselves back into contention. Big Papa (2-3) started out the season 2-0 but now have lost three straight games and are left wondering what has happened and how can they fix it? I guess for starters not having to play against a coach whose last name isn’t Keepers may help?

Rapids Plungers (125.36) vs 16hrs Ahead of You!! (124.47)

What a game this turned out to be! I think it is worth mentioning how this one ended as I am not sure I can ever remember an ending quite like this. Let me explain.. Rapids Plungers who moves to 2-3 on the season only had their Defense left to play after the 3PM games on Sunday. 16hrs Ahead of You!! fell to 2-3 on the season and after the 3PM games completed on Sunday they too only had one position going and that was also their Defense. That is the interesting part as i am not sure I have ever seen a game come that was virtually tied after the afternoon games and the only remaining position was the Def position. 16hrs had the HOU Defense and they got 7 points on Sunday evening. Rapids Plungers had the Saints D as they put up 8 points to pull off the 0.89 point win. This was a big game for Rapids Plungers as they wanted nothing to do with a 1-4 start!

BIGBOY! (184.92) vs teamAlaska (87.47)

Well there’s the champ and I think they were sending a message to the rest of the league that they won’t go down quietly! BIGBOY! (2-3) pulled off a huge trade with Sportsfreak to begin the week and then came out and put up the most points by any team in the league this year. It will be interesting to see how they perform moving forward. teamAlaska didn’t have a chance in this one and have now fallen to 0-5 on the season.

Bossman (128.04) vs DaUnderdog (101.53)

Bossman (3-2) comes away with the big win and puts themselves a game over .500. They have got to be excited to have Mark Ingram back as he was able to put up close to 20 points in his first game back from suspension. Brees made this one interesting for DaUnderdog (2-3) but it wasn’t enough for them to pull out the win. It didn’t help that they had two guys on their starting lineup not score.  Bossman has now won two straight games and will be looking for their 3rd straight next week as they go up against the winless Sportsfreak squad.

HHH (147.39) vs pack slayer (95.70)

HHH is rolling as they remain undefeated and at the top of the league! They put up big #’s yet again and this time they did it even though their superstar Alvin Kamara failed to score 10pts for the first time all year. Not to worry though as I. Crowell picked up the slack by putting up 42 points! They just keep finding ways to win and players continue to step up! pack slayer (3-2) after starting the season out with 3 straight wins now have lost two straight and will be looking to get back on track next week against Pack Attack.

U Don’t Know (154.39) vs PackerFANatic7 (118.89)

So for those of you that were wondering.. U Don’t Know is good, really good! They win again to move to 5-0 on the season and they did it against a team that we were considering one of the better teams in the league. If there is any doubts out there about this team, I think it is time to give them their respect and call it like it is through 5 weeks! PackerFANatic7 (3-2) saw their 3 game losing streak come to an end and they will be looking to get back on track next week against 16hrs Ahead of you!!

PackMan12 (107.73) vs Sportsfreak (88.51)

PackMan12 (4-1) gets back on track this week with the win… or did they? Well a win is a win and I know they will take it but winning while barely scoring over 100 points isn’t necessarily what I would call a dominating effort. I think more of it has to do with their opponent in Sportsfreak who falls to 0-5 on the season and they continue to prove to all of us after each week that they are one of the worst teams in the league this season!

Have a great week everyone!

XV – Week 4 Recap

Week 4 is now complete and this was a week that we saw 2 of the 4 undefeated teams lose. That means we now are left with just two remaining undefeated teams after 4 weeks.

Pack Attack (138.59) vs BIGBOY! (106.23)

Pack Attack (1-3) finally comes away with their first win of the season while BIGBOY! (1-3) suffers another tough loss. The defending champs are going to have to figure out something quick if they want a chance at defending that championship.

16hrs Ahead of You!! (161.43) vs Sportsfreak (147.08)

16hrs ahead of you!! moves to 2-2 on the season and in the past 3 weeks they have been averaging a solid 142.33 points. Sporsfreak (0-4) was the tough luck loser in this one as they played their best game of the season and still were unable to get that first win. That is a tough hole to dig out of with starting out the season with 4 straight losses but after a strong performance they may be feeling a little more hopeful about their chances of turning things around.

HHH (157.29) vs Big Papa (156.08)

What a game this one turned out to be and it was a good thing that HHH (4-0) had the lead going into the Monday night match up. HHH had Sammy Watkins going on Mon night so even if they were down by 10 points you would have thought they would have had a chance. Well Watkins got hurt early and didn’t score a point and this became a 1 point win for HHH to stay undefeated. Big Papa (2-2) bounced back from the tough loss a week ago to let us know despite the loss that this team is for real. HHH remains one of the two undefeated teams in the league and the target is now officially on your back!

Bossman (123.41) vs teamAlaska (78.29)

Bossman (2-2) did what they were supposed to do and that was hold win this game. teamAlaska (0-4) got some good news however in that Bell plans to return in week 7. The question becomes can they steal a win or two before he comes back? It is not looking overly positive at this point.

DaUnderdog (90.91) vs PackMan12 (88.86)

DaUnderdog (2-2) somehow comes away with the win in this one despite only scoring 90 points. I think the Yahoo recap of this game said it best…. “Offensively challenged DaUnderdog beat PackMan12….” PackMan12 (3-1) came into this game on a roll and was sitting a top the league and now after this performance you start wondering… were the first three weeks who this team really is or did we just see what resembles the real team? I would vote for somewhere in the middle but only time will tell.

PackerFANatic7 (165.14) vs pack slayer (147.40)

This was a fun one as who doesn’t like a shootout amongst two of the top teams in the league. PackerFANatic7 came out on top to move to 3-1 on the season. The win moved them slightly ahead of pack slayer who had their first loss of the season. Despite the loss however they can’t complain with the production as again they scored solid points but this week it wasn’t enough. That combination of Julio Jones and Matt Ryan again delivered huge points… when is Atlanta’s bye.. Whoever plays pack slayer that week has luck on their side.

U Don’t Know (157.03) vs Rapids Plungers (140.93)

U Don’t Know (4-0) continues to impress and they stay undefeated on the season! Their lowest point production was 110 points in week 1 but since then they have scored over 150 points each week. I keep waiting for them to come crashing back to earth and it hasn’t happened. It is probably time to talk about them as one of the.. if not the best team in the league and they right now have the record and stats to prove it. Rapids Plungers (1-3) like Sportsfreak had their best week of the season and it still unfortunately wasn’t enough to get the victory. They had to be happy with the production but they also can’t expect 44pts from Luck every week. This team needs a guy like Josh Gordon to step up and be a star and even though Antonio Brown has been solid. I don’t think he has lived up to what you would expect from him just yet. They will need this to happen and happen soon for them to stay competitive.

Have a great week everyone!
