The stakes are getting higher! Four teams remain with a shot at a title! The matchups couldn’t be better! We do know one thing is for certain and that is that we are going to have someone back in the Super Bowl for the second year in a row. Either BIGBOY! or Sportsfreak will be returning! Let’s take a look to see who will be heading to Super Bowl XXII.
(1) Rapids Plungers vs (4) Pack Attack
Rapids Plungers has been the top dog in the league for the last month + and so much so that it seems like it has been a long time since they have had a meaningful game. Will that hurt them? Or will all this rest allow them to come out and dominate like they have most of season? Pack Attack got the monster win last week in advancing however did they use up all of their offense in that one week? It is hard to have back to back huge games like they did but this is the playoffs and everything is on the line! This should be a good one!
Prediction
As I stated in last week’s preview, I will do my best to give an honest prediction even though I may be slightly biased! Ok, let’s start at the QB spot. We have J Dart for Pack Attack and J Hurts for Rapids Plungers. While I do think Dart is capable of keeping up with Hurts he is also capable of a sub 10 point game and Hurts has a nice matchup against WSH. The edge here goes to Rapids Plungers.
The WR spot is interesting because as of this writing I am not 100% sure exactly who will be starting for both teams. Pearsall and London for Rapids Plungers seem truly questionable and will Pack Attack really be starting Coker and Slayton with a trip to the Super bowl on the line? Well the answer is they likely will as D Adams is unlikely to play and I am going to assume for now that London and Pearsall play. The edge here would also go to Rapids Plungers as they have 3 guys that you know will get touches! The RB position has two of the best backs in the league going head to head and then two solid RB2’s. Rapids Plungers has Achane and Q Judkins while Pack Attack has CMC and Etienne. This one in my book is a toss up but I like the matchups for both Judkins and Achane a lot. I am going with Rapids Plungers to have a slight edge here at RB.
The TE position has Pack Attack with T McBride while Rapids Plungers will counter that with T Warren. McBride has been on a tear and I expect him to outduel T Warren in this one. Pack Attack with the edge at TE.
The FLEX position has Pittman Jr for Pack Attack and B Corum for Rapids Plungers. You might look at this and say oh that’s easy an advantage for Pack Attack however Corum has been outstanding his last three games and now they are on a short week so you would expect he will get a lot of touches! I am going to give Pack Attack a slight edge here but this one could easily go either way.
Now the real question is who wins? As non biased as I can be I would go with Rapids Plungers to have the upper hand right now. If both Pearsall and London sit that would change things drastically but for now I got Rapids Plungers getting back to the Super Bowl with a big win here!
(2) Sportsfreak vs (3) BIGBOY!
Wow! What a game this one should be! The brother battle part II and now Sportsfreak is out for revenge! BIGBOY! and Sportsfreak met up in last years Super Bowl with BIGBOY! coming out victorious! Sportsfreak has yet to win a Championship and now to get one step closer their little brother is right there in their way! Will they be able to take them down this week and get back to the Super Bowl or will BIGBOY! once again reign supreme and maybe forever have bragging rights over their big bro!? Let’s take a look!
Prediction
Let’s start with the QB position. We have Brissett for BIGBOY! and Stafford for Sportsfreak. Brissett has been outstanding for BIGBOY! since he took over the starting job a few weeks back and Stafford is having an MVP type season. The one thing with Brissett is that they have been playing from behind in most every game which I am not sure is going to be the case this week but I don’t love the matchup for Stafford at Seattle and sounds like weather may be a factor. I am going to give the slight edge to BIGBOY!
The WR position has BIGBOY! with Jefferson / DJ Moore / K Allen and Sportsfreak with Metcalf / N Collins / JSN. The advantage here is to Sportsfreak however I expect a really solid game from Jefferson this week and it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him have his best week of the year. Also, K Allen is in a great spot against the Cowboys and their terrible secondary. That evens the playing field a bit but the Sportsfreak WR’s are better players and also in great spots. Sportsfreak with a sizable edge here.
The RB position has C Brown / T Spears for BIGBOY! and A Jones / K Gainwell for Sportsfreak. That’s gross! Who ever said you need good RB’s to win in this league!? I clearly don’t love either of these 4 backs it is possible that this could be the difference making position. I don’t expect many points as of now so if one of these players can go out and put up 20 that could be huge! I am going to give a slight edge to BIGBOY! simply because I like C Brown the best of the 4 even though A Jones from a matchup perspective is in a good spot and of the 4 he may be the guy I could see most likely breaking a long TD run! BIGBOY! however with the edge.
The TE position has D Schultz for BIGBOY! vs Kyle Pitts for Sportsfreak. If there was anything annoying about having a 1st round bye for Sportsfreak it would have been because they didn’t get to enjoy Kyle Pitts monster 47 point game last week! They will be hoping for another big game and he is in another good matchup. I like Pitts and Sportsfreak with the edge at TE.
The FLEX position has two more TE’s as BIGBOY! is rolling with H Fannin Jr while Sportsfreak is going with D Waller. Fannin has been solid at the TE spot this season but has a tough matchup against the Bills. Waller is in a great spot from a matchup perspective but now without Tua throwing him the ball I am not sure what to think. I will give a slight edge to Sportsfreak simply because of the matchup.
Ok, so who wins? Well that is a 3-2 matchup edge for Sportsfreak. I am going to pick Sportsfreak to win in a close one. The thing to watch is the WR group as a whole as that is where I see the biggest discrepancy. If BIGBOY! can keep up with Sportsfreak there I think they have a great shot at winning. If not, then of course they are going to need to gain ground somewhere else and I am having trouble finding where that would be. Sportsfreak with the win!
So that means that my prediction for Super Bowl XXII is Rapids Plungers vs Sportsfreak! Good luck and enjoy the weekend of Football!
