Big Papa (111.51) vs Pack Attack (105.04)
We knew this was a meaningless game for Pack Attack except for the fact that they were trying to at least be good enough to get into the consolation round. I thought however this game may mean a bit more for Big Papa but in the end it turns out it meant whether they would be the #4 or #5 seed in the playoffs and as you know the #4 and #5 play each other so it really didn’t matter at all. Big Papa does finish the season strong winning 5 of their last 6 games to get back to the playoffs. They are a battle tested team and now they get to make another run at their first ever championship! The 4 wins is the worst ever for Pack Attack… they will look to rebound and at least get 5 next season!
16hrs Ahead of You!! (122.22) vs BIGBOY! (111.12)
This has been a tough season for both teams but 16hrs at least can sleep a little better knowing they stopped their 8 game losing streak and by doing so will end the season on a winning note. It has been another rough season and you have to wonder if maybe watching too much Rugby is starting to really make NFL fantasy football be difficult for this coach. Maybe there is a Australian Fantasy Rugby league!? BIGBOY! finishes with 4 wins which ties them for their worst season on record. Since winning back to back championships they have missed the playoffs now in 3 of the last 4 seasons and outside of last years really good 11-3 record they have been 13-27. They will be looking for a much better season next year!
teamAlaska (186.91) vs Bossman (86.18)
Wow! I know this didn’t mean anything to Bossman but there is something to be said about losing your final game or really any game for that matter by 100 points! That’s what happened this week as teamAlaska made a huge statement as they enter the playoffs as the #3 seed. This was the team we saw for the first 5 weeks of the season when they started 5-0. If that team comes back and if they get hot they are going to be a tough out! The 186 points was the most scored by any team this season and they finish off their 3rd straight winning season. It’s been 11 years since their last championship, can they make a run again? Like I said earlier, I know this game didn’t mean anything to Bossman but I can’t imagine they wanted to end their season like this. They lost by 100 points, failed to score 100 for only the second time all year and in doing so fell 7.93 points short of breaking their personal record for points scored in a season and probably worst then both of those two things is the fact that they likely lost K. Murray for the season due to an ACL injury. This was a great season for Bossman and one week doesn’t change that but it sure does put a bit of a damper on it! Let’s see if Bossman can work their waiver wire magic and find a replacement QB to lead them back to the Super Bowl and ultimately a championship!
PackerFANatic7 (89.84) vs DaUnderdog (76.97)
PackerFANatic7 (5-9) gets the win and finished off their season by winning 4 of their last 5 games. They have got to be happy with that finish but also have to be left feeling frustrated that they couldn’t find a way to get win #2 until week 10! DaUnderdog (6-8) will have a few more nights of waking up and seeing that championship trophy on their wall because they were unable to make it back to the playoffs and defend their title. The season started off so strong but then things just didn’t go their way as they finished off the season 2-8 and losing 5 straight games. That’s a bit of a tough pill to swallow knowing all they needed to do in their final 10 is go .500 and they would be in the playoffs. Off to next season for both of these teams!
HHH (94.32) vs U Don’t Know (67.27)
This was the game that I was watching closely as it was the only win and your in type of scenario for both teams. The fact that neither team was able to score 100 points in a do or die game is surprising but defense wins championships and HHH (8-6) and their defense was dominate this week to lead them to the win and back into the playoffs for the first time in 3 seasons! There was a point where U Don’t Know (8-6) was looking like a sneaky good team. They had won 5 of 6 and looked like a playoff lock but with 4 weeks remaining they fell apart losing 3 of their last 4 games and this week when the game mattered most they end up with their worst week of the season! That’s a tough way to miss out on the playoffs and they will be thinking about this one for awhile but hey.. you do get the first round bye in the consolation round!
Sportsfreak (106.84) vs pack slayer (90.78)
Sportsfreak (6-8) finishes off their season on a high note winning 3 of their last 4 games. Sportsfreak has now missed the playoffs for 5 straight seasons and will be looking to spend some time this offseason figuring out why! pack slayer (7-7) finishes off the season in somewhat fitting fashion as this was a team that was average all season. Looked good some weeks, terrible the next but in the end never really felt like a playoff caliber team so for them to finish at .500 feels about spot on! To their credit, they are usually in the mix for a playoff berth and they were right there yet again this season. They will be looking to get back next season and in the meantime they can enjoy a first round bye in the consolation bracket.
Starrfavrerodg (140.49) vs Rapids Plungers (124.43)
In a game that had a playoff atmosphere it was Starrfavrerodg (10-4) that just keeps doing what they have been doing ever since week 6 and that is win games! This was their 8th win in a row and the biggest of them all as this one locked in that #2 seed and a first round bye! During this crazy good run it has seemed that when Starrfavrerodg needed someone to step up they did! This week it was from one of the more improbable players on their team, a guy that they are week to week just hoping can put up close to 10 points. Evan Engram came through this week with a insane 41.10 point outburst to lead the way. Engram coming into this game had scored a total of 75.90 points. That means that 35% of of their scoring for the entire year came in this one game! Starrfavrerodg needed every bit of those points to get the win as everyone else outside of J. Chase struggled to put up points. Rapids Plungers had a solid season once again and is now back in the playoffs for the 6th time in 7 years. This is a team that expects to be there each and every year. A win would have made their bid for a championship a bit easier but they know what it takes to win a championship and they began that quest next week in the Wild Card round!
It is rare that you see a team finish out their season the way that Starrfavrerodg just did! 8 straights wins, making the playoffs and winning their final game to determine who gets the first round bye. You can’t script it a lot better then that! I looked back and during Week 6 Starrfavrerodg had just lost to pack slayer by a mere 1.17 points to fall to 2-4 on the season and only two teams below them in the standings. That was a demoralizing loss and you could have thought this team may spiral down from there but as it turns out that was where things got going and they haven’t lost since. This is all great and the praise is well deserved but in the end no one will remember this season unless you finish it off with two more wins and a championship! Then you have your picture perfect, story book type of season!
That’s it for this week everyone. Have a great week!
