My Picks Record:
Last Week: 0-0
Overall: 0-0
teamAlaska (0-0) vs Pack Attack (0-0)
It’s a brother battle to start off the season and of course then that means to end the season. teamAlaska is coming off of one of their better seasons as they made a Super Bowl appearance and came a mere 2 points shy of taking home the trophy. It is always tough to get back to the Super Bowl in back to back seasons but they had a solid draft and will be looking to do just that. They start off against a Pack Attack team that has been really struggling lately as they have missed the playoffs now in 6 straight seasons. It seems likely that this game comes down to the Monday nighter with Josh Allen for Pack Attack going up against a tough Jets D.

16hrs Ahead of You!! (0-0) vs pack slayer (0-0)
16hrs ahead of you hasn’t had the best of success over the previous 19 years in this league but I always wondered if it had something to do with the fact that they never make it to the draft or not? This year seemed a little different in that we actually saw them on draft night (or did we)? I can’t help but wonder if maybe there was a little help by someone who may be paying a bit more attention to the NFL these days!? This is one of the better starting teams I have seen for 16hrs so we will see how that carries over into the season. pack slayer finished last season at .500 and a game outside of the playoffs. By their standards that was not good enough as this is a team that is accustomed to making the playoffs year in and year out. They have made the playoffs in 7 of their 12 seasons and will be looking to start strong again this year.
Prediction:
Week 1 is always tough for predicting winners and losers as there are always surprises with playing time, etc. This looks like a very even matchup with the one thing I am having the hardest time predicting is how Tua is going to fair in what would seem like a really good match up. He was so good in the early part of last season and then of course struggled late. I actually think he has a strong game this week and the rest of pack slayer’s team should be solid! I like pack slayer to get the win here.

Big Papa (0-0) vs Rapids Plungers (0-0)
Our reigning Keepers Fantasy Football champion begins their quest for back to back Super Bowls with a game against Rapids Plungers who has historically been one of the better teams in the league during the regular season. Big Papa I am sure has been riding high all offseason and I can’t help but wonder if maybe that played into their rather poor draft performance (according to the Yahoo grades). I did hear rumors that they were having issues logging in but who knows if that was true or not! 🙂 Rapids Plungers owns the 2nd highest regular season winning percentage in the league at 60% only trailing Bossman! They will be looking to keep that going in week 1.
Going back to the draft, both of these teams took very opposite approaches. Big Papa loaded up at RB taking 3 of them with their first 3 picks while Rapids Plungers didn’t draft their first RB until round 6 (A Kamara) who is suspended for the first three games. Rapids Plungers instead took 4 WR’s in their first 4 rounds. Which strategy was right? It usually takes much longer into the season to tell but you will get your first glimpse this week!
Prediction:
Given what I just described about the draft for these two teams I do of course like the RB room for Big Papa and the WR’s for Rapids Plungers. The fact that Rapids Plungers was able to find a capable starter in R Mostert for this week along with all of their WR studs and not to mention the fact that Kittle may not play has me liking Rapids Plungers a little more in this one. Rapids Plungers with the win.
Historical Look at this Match-Up:
- Regular Season Match-ups: 15
- Record: Advantage Big Papa at 8-7
- PPG Avg: Advantage Rapids Plungers 121.99 to 119.49
BIGBOY! (0-0) vs PackerFANatic7 (0-0)
Welcome to a new fantasy football season is something that both of these two teams have been waiting to hear after their dreadful performances last season which had them finishing near the bottom of the league. While PackerFANatic7 is still one of the newer teams in the league they are now entering their 7th season which means we can gain some solid level of information on their play and well… it isn’t really good. They have only made the playoffs one time and that was in their rookie season. I don’t see a lack of effort so maybe it is just coaching!? If there is a team with something to prove this season this may be the one I am most interested in watching.
BIGBOY! had that great run of back to back championships in Years 14 & 15 but they have failed to make the playoffs in 3 of the last 4 seasons and you all know how important those 1st few picks in the draft are and to be picking at #5 and taking C. Kupp who was noted as having a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury and is now out for at least week 1… well that isn’t ideal. Week 1 hasn’t started yet so this could turn out to be a fine pick at #5 but where things sit now it seems questionable. Not to mention picks like Gibbs, K Walker and Pitts all of whom have top of their position type of upside but also carry a decent amount of risk. If all things work in their favor and these risky players work out then this could be a loaded roster but if not… they may be relegated to another 4 win season!
Prediction:
With Kupp missing this game that is obviously a big blow for BIGBOY! You would think then that the easy pick here is PackerFANatic7 right? Well, I do think they win but it isn’t that easy. I don’t like some of the matchups for key players on the PackerFANatic7 side of things but I do think they do just enough to win this one in what I am going to predict will be a lower scoring game, 105 to 95.
Historical Look at this Match-Up:
- Regular Season Match-ups: 6
- Record: Tied at 3-3
- PPG Avg: Advantage BIGBOY! 121.66 to 114.47
Bossman (0-0) vs HHH (0-0)
Bossman is coming off of yet another stellar season! Their unprecedented run of making three straight super bowls came to an end but it wasn’t because they didn’t have a solid team. In fact they had the best team in the regular season finishing with the overall #1 seed but they couldn’t finish it off. They will be looking to start a new streak this week as they look to get back to the playoffs for their 5th season in a row.
HHH was back in the playoffs last season after a two year hiatus but they didn’t do anything with that opportunity as they lost in the first round to teamAlaska. I think both of these teams did a solid job in the draft outside of a glaring weakness of starting J Goff at QB for HHH. I am not saying that he can’t lead them to a championship as crazier things have happened (not much though). So who starts off with the win?
Prediction:
I like Bossman in this one. I really like the WR’s for Bossman and I think D. Watson has a really solid game this week in what should be a fun game vs CIN. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is one of the higher scoring games of the week but I just don’t see HHH having enough firepower to keep up.
Historical Look at this Match-Up:
- Regular Season Match-ups: 17
- Record: Advantage Bossman at 9-8
- PPG Avg: Advantage Bossman 110.37 to 109.05
DaUnderdog (0-0) vs Sportsfreak (0-0)
DaUnderdog failed to make the playoffs last season a year after they won the Super Bowl. They will be looking to get things going against a Sportsfreak squad that has been really bad over the last 5 seasons. They have failed to make the playoffs in each of those seasons and there most wins was 6 during that stretch.
Sportsfreak did come out with what seems like on a paper a solid draft. They are stacked at QB and WR but then may struggle a bit at the RB spot. DaUnderdog started with Kelce and now to hear the news that he may not play in Week 1 is very disheartening.
Prediction:
You hate to have injuries play a factor in games in Week 1 but anytime a first round pick is out it is going to make a difference. Without Kelce I don’t see DaUnderdog keeping up with Sportsfreak. Look for Sportsfreak to get off to a good start by getting win #1 here.
Historical Look at this Match-Up:
- Regular Season Match-ups: 21
- Record: Advantage Sportsfreak at 12-9
- PPG Avg: Advantage Sportsfreak 110.54 to 100.91
Starrfavrerodg (0-0) vs U Don’t Know (0-0)
Starrfavrerodg is coming off of a really solid season. They finished 2nd in the regular season and got that first round bye. It unfortunately didn’t amount to much as they lost their first game in the playoffs to teamAlaska but having made it to the playoffs in 2 of their first 3 seasons has to give them confidence coming into year 4.
U Don’t Know has had an above .500 season for 5 years in a row now. During that time they have made the playoffs three times and were able to get their first ever championship 3 seasons ago! They had a solid draft by taking Chase and Mahomes with the first two picks. In a deep, 14 team league having possible two of the best at their position on your team can take you a long way! Now all they need is J. Taylor to be the J. Taylor of old when/if he decides to play football this year.
Prediction:
The injury news to Kelce is not only hurting the Kelce managers but to some level I think it affects Mahomes. That said it is still Mahomes and I expect him to put up his #’s. U Don’t Know has yet to decide who is playing the W/R/T position but I think I can pick this game without that. I like U Don’t Know to get the win here in Week 1.
Historical Look at this Match-Up:
- Regular Season Match-ups: 3
- Record: Advantage U Don’t Know at 2-1
- PPG Avg: Advantage U Don’t Know 160.05 to 127.99
