Big Papa (160.24) vs Pack Attack (94.13)
This is about as good as you could have drawn it up for Big Papa (1-0) as they got one of the better draft grades in the draft (which I know they take pride in) and then they come out and dominate in Week 1 by putting up the most points in the league! Oh and not to mention the coach of Big Papa seems to be a Vikings fan when they beat the Packers so it was a GOOD week for Big Papa and their coach! To talk a little bit about the game they got 42.35 points from Mahomes and Kupp had a huge game with 31 points. Anytime that you leave a week with the top scoring QB and the #2 scoring WR you can feel good about your chances of winning! This is a great start for Big Papa but last year they also got off to a good start in Week 1 by putting up 151 points. They went on to lose their next 5 games and that Week 1 was their highest scoring week of the season. They will be hoping history doesn’t repeat itself as they get BIGBOY! in a Father-Son matchup next week.
BIGBOY! (85.60) vs 16hrs Ahead of You!! (55.97)
Well this was not how either of these teams really envisioned week 1 going except for the fact that BIGBOY! was able to figure out a way to get the W in a ugly game. 16hrs (0-1) had only one player score in double figures this week as the entire team really struggled to get anything going. For BIGBOY! (1-0) it really wasn’t much better as they had 3 players score in double figures but to make things worse their highest scoring player this week (TJ Watt) will be out for a significant portion of the season if not the entire season. This was a bad week for both teams but if you are BIGBOY! you at least can feel good about the fact that you snuck in a win despite scoring the second lowest points in the league! You need some luck in this league and well BIGBOY! was the “luckiest” in week 1!
teamAlaska (144.36) vs Bossman (133.55)
What a game this one was as teamAlaska (1-0) got 20.10 points from Jeudy in last night’s game to get the 11 point win! They got a monster performance from J. Jefferson (40.20 pts) and then solid performances from a handful of other players which led them to a really good win in week 1. There was a lot of talk about this Bossman (0-1) ever since they got the #1 overall pick and then their draft strategy that followed however if week 1 is any indication that talk may be quickly forgotten as they had a strong week 1 showing. With 5 guys scoring over 11 points this week they got solid production across their team. There is one big “oops” here that can keep Fantasy managers awake at night and that is starting T. Pollard (3.83pts) over J. Robinson (17.55pts). I think prior to week 1 games being played most everyone would have had Pollard higher ranked then Robinson but knowing the win was sitting on your bench never sits well!
DaUnderdog (110.99) vs PackerFANatic7 (108.63)
Game of the week! This one came down to the Sunday and Monday night games as both teams had a decent amount of players going. When looking at this matchup prior to Sunday Night I felt that PackerFANatic7 had the edge given the players they had remaining specifically D. Prescott but Prescott only put up 1.41 points and is now injured. DaUnderdog got just enough points from DK Metcalf (6.80Pts) and the Denver D (5pts) to hold on to the 2 point win and start their title defense in winning fashion. These are the games that in years past it seemed rather then finding a way to win DaUnderdog (1-0) would lose these. Maybe last seasons success has changed things and we will start seeing them pull off the close wins like this! With the win DaUnderdog moved their record to 6-0 all time against PackerFANatic7! The loss of Prescott for a month or so is going to hurt PackerFANatic7 (0-1) but they must have loved seeing how well D. Adams performed after some uncertainty going into the season.
U Don’t Know (129.61) vs HHH (94.99)
Diggs and Barkley.. that’s the story for U Don’t Know (1-0) as those two led the way this week by scoring a combined 61.43 points which is good for just under half of their points on the week. That my friends is the type of production you want / need out of your top 2 draft picks! The bad news for U Don’t Know is that their 3rd round pick didn’t work out so well as E. Mitchell looks to be out for a majority of the fantasy season. They will need the rookie B. Hall to fill that void moving forward. HHH (0-1) had injury issues hit them before Week 1 games were even played as A. Lazard and G. Kittle both were out this week. M. Pittman had a really solid 26pt game for them and I expect him to be one of their better performing players this season but the rest of the team struggled with Burrow throwing 4 interceptions and A. Ekeler not performing at the level they expected when drafting him # 2 overall! Better days are ahead for HHH.. I think!
Sportsfreak (124.52) vs pack slayer (115.31)
I mentioned this in last week’s preview but I really liked what Sportsfreak did in the draft and it showed in this weeks win. If you are Sportsfreak you have to be excited about the win but also the way in which they won. They got solid production from Herbert (23.65) and D. Swift (25.15) which I think is somewhat expected but they also got 22.80 points from Patterson. They won this game with M. Williams, A. Kamara and D. Waller combining for 16.40 points this week. I would not expect that to continue on a weekly basis as these guys are too good so to get the win despite that is great for Sportsfreak. pack slayer (0-1) didn’t have a bad week as anytime you score over 100 points you give yourself a chance but they needed a little more from CMC (13.40) to pull off the victory. The good news is that McCaffrey looked good in his return and got out of week 1 healthy. AJ Brown also looked amazing so despite the loss their are some good things to take away from this one.
Rapids Plungers (144.74) vs Starrfavrerodg (95.40)
Outside of Big Papa the next “Happiest” person in the league this week has to be Rapids Plungers (1-0) and their coach Tony Devivo as not only did their fantasy team dominate they also got an unlikely win from their team of choice in the Chicago Bears! From a fantasy perspective sometimes things are just weird! I am not sure how else to put it. If you would have asked me to bet you with real money that out of G. Davis, M. Thomas, C. Lamb and P. Campbell you were picking C. Lamb to be the lowest scorer I would have taken that bet 100% of the time and lost A LOT of real money because that is exactly what happened. The good news here for Rapids Plungers is that despite Lamb and Etienne (their top WR / RB based on where they drafted them) they still scored 144 points! Depth is something I talk a lot about because you can win some games with studs alone but to go deep into the playoffs and win on a regular basis you need solid depth and it seems at least for one week Rapids Plungers has that. Starrfavrerodg (0-1) on the other hand going into the week I really liked their WR group and I thought that would be a big reason they found a way to win and they overall performed well led by Chase and his 28.05 points but they didn’t get much help anywhere else. I do think this team will see better days ahead and if they can get some production out of the RB position I think they will be just fine!
That’s it for this week everyone. Have a great week!
